The Importance of Social Media in your Real Estate Investing Business

August 02, 20235 min read

We live in what is probably the peak of the digital age - information travels faster than ever and social media has become an essential part of our lives. From connecting with friends and family to promoting our businesses. Social media has changed the way we interact with the world in less than 2 decades.

As a real estate investor, being active on different social media platforms is an amazing way to grow your business.

When used right, it can help you become well-known within your niche, build relationships with clients, and stay on top of industry trends.

That’s why I want to go over some general benefits of being active on social media, and the specific benefits of being active on different channels. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube - all of these can be of great help to real estate investors.

Benefits of being active on social media

Brand Awareness Using Social Media

Social media channels give you the best playfield to show off what your business is all about. People who find you by chance, potential clients, sellers, and possible partners, anyone can see what you post. Real estate investors need to take advantage of this and consistently post content related to what they do. It can be showing off a property you just got, or explaining how your latest deal went. As long as you stay consistent, you will build a brand image and a following will start to form

Relationship building

As mentioned before, anyone can see what you post! Investors need to use that in their favour and engage with the different people they come across with. Being active in other people’s posts, showing interest, and sending a private message are great ways to start a relationship. Through this engagement, you can establish trust and credibility, which can lead to valuable business connections. (Check out our tips on how to build a network as a real estate investor!)

Lead Generation

There are multiple ways to generate leads through social media. Facebook ads and Google PPC are probably the most common, but you can generate leads by simply having a presence on these platforms. We are talking about organic leads - people who find your business and reach out without you having to persuade them. By being active and sharing interesting and helpful content, you may become an authority figure. Being perceived as such will make people trust you and have you at the top of their list if they ever need a service like yours.

Industry Insight

Social media can give you valuable insights into the latest industry trends, news, and best practices. By making sure to follow other professionals in the field, you can stay informed of any changes and developments, as well as new helpful strategies. Remember that there will always be someone out there who has more experience in something than you. Take in other people’s advice, process it, and see if it can add value to your business.

Benefits of Being Active on Different Social Media Platforms

With over 2.8 billion monthly active users, Facebook is the largest social media platform in the world. It provides a vast audience to promote your brand, share deals, and engage with potential clients. Facebook groups are a great tool to make connections and become well known within a niche. And Facebook ads are an amazing way to generate leads, with great targeting based on interests, demographics, and behaviors. (If you are looking to generate leads this way click here!)

Instagram is a very visual platform, making it the ideal channel to show what your business is about through pictures and videos. By sharing content consistently, real estate investors can grow their brand awareness. Remember that if someone has seen your face somewhere before, they are more likely to trust you when it comes to other matters. Instagram also offers paid advertising options (although not as used by investors) which can help you reach a wider audience.

TikTok is just beginning to gain popularity with real estate investors. The app's short-form videos can be a very effective way to show your business in a creative and engaging way. With more than 1 billion monthly active users, TikTok can help you reach audiences that are not present in other social media platforms. And through its odd humour and trends, TikTok content can sky-rocket a business account’s popularity regardless of its focus.

As the second-largest search engine in the world, Youtube is an ideal platform for sharing educational and informative content. Real estate investors can create videos that provide insights into the industry, share tips and best practices, and talk about their services. The platform offers different advertisement formats - helping you reach a wider audience or taking viewers directly to your website.

To make the most of social media, investors need to develop a clear strategy that aligns with their objectives. Creating a content calendar is a great way to do this, but remember that defining your target audience is your first step.

Setting yourself specific goals and metrics is also essential, as it give you direction on where you want your business to go. By taking a strategic approach to social media, you can more efficiently use these platforms to reach your goals.

So never underestimate the power of social media. By being active on different channels, you can build a strong brand image, generate leads, and stay ahead of the competition. With the right approach and strategy, social media can be a highly effective tool for achieving your business goals and taking your investments to the next level.
